📚 Glossary

Term

Definition

Automatic Tax

CrocoClick feature that calculates and applies the correct tax rate (VAT, GST, Sales Tax, etc.) based on the customer's address, your Nexus addresses, and product codes.

Nexus address

Country, state, or province where your business is legally required to collect tax. Taxes are only applied to customers located in your declared Nexus locations.

Tax ID

Tax identification number (VAT – EU/UK, GST – AU/CA, etc.). It can grant exemptions or specific rates when entered.

Product Code / Tax Category

Standardized code that describes the nature of a product or service (book, software, training, etc.). Allows the correct rate or exemption to be applied.

VAT (Value Added Tax)

A consumption tax used in the European Union and several countries, collected at each stage of the value chain.

GST (Goods and Services Tax)

Equivalent to VAT in certain countries (Australia, Canada, Singapore, etc.). Works on the same principle of added value.

Sales Tax

Sales tax levied in several US states; the rate varies by state and sometimes by county or city.

Checkout

Payment page or pop-up (funnel, payment link, store, invoice) where the customer enters their information and CrocoClick displays the calculated tax.

Exemption

Cases where the tax rate is reduced or zero (e.g., exports outside the zone, non-taxable entities). CrocoClick applies it automatically if the Tax ID or product code provides for it.

2. Prerequisites

  • Be the administrator of the CrocoClick account.

  • Have a payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) connected beforehand.

  • Know your collection obligations: countries + states/provinces (US/CA) where you have a tax nexus.

💡 TIP: You can add several countries/states at once. Deletion is done country by country.

Do

Do

✅ Keep your Nexus list up to date after any significant sales in a new state/country.

❌ Multiply H1 tags on your page (bad for SEO and accessibility).

✅ Always use the correct product code to benefit from exemptions/reduced rates.

❌ Leave "Automatic Tax" enabled on an invoice exported outside the EU if you are not physically delivering.

✅ Keep your VAT/GST numbers in the interface.

❌ Assume that CrocoClick replaces the advice of a tax expert.

6. FAQ

1️⃣ What is a Nexus?

A territory (country, state, province) where you are legally required to collect tax. CrocoClick only calculates tax for addresses located within your Nexus.

2️⃣ Do I need to add a Tax ID everywhere?

Recommended. Some countries (EU) apply different rules if the seller has a local number. CrocoClick handles these automatically.

3️⃣ Can I delete multiple Nexus at once?

Deletion is individual. If you delete "Canada," all added provinces will be removed in a cascade.

4️⃣ What types of checkout are compatible?

  • Sales funnels

  • Payment links

  • Invoices & quotes

  • E-commerce stores

5️⃣ Which countries are supported?

The complete list appears in + Add a Nexus (search by name or ISO code). India is not supported—configure your rates manually.

6️⃣ Where can I find the list of product codes?

In the "Product Code" interface: link See the list of codes (alphabet + category).

7️⃣ Do I need to do anything to switch from VAT to GST?

No: simply enter the corresponding Tax ID and CrocoClick will apply local legislation.

⚠️ Responsibility: CrocoClick simplifies collection, but it is up to you to verify your tax obligations in each jurisdiction.
